The Provider - Weekly Update

May Nonprofit Member in the Spotlight - Community Dispute Resolution Center

The Community Dispute Resolution Center gives more than 1,000 people a year the opportunity to resolve conflicts constructively and inexpensively.  The CDRC caseload usually involves custody and visitation issues, problems with feuding neighbors, disputes within the workplace, conflicts in schools, and a wide variety of conflicts and difficult conversation scenarios within families.  Although the CDRC has faced large cuts over the past two years, it has still been able to maintain and strengthen its services to the residents of Chemung, Schuyler and Tompkins Counties.

Last year, the IHS Volunteer Conference attracted over 90 nonprofit professionals throughout the region and New York State, from a variety of nonprofit sectors including human services, health care, environmental, children & families, youth, etc. Participants typically represented people who work with, administer, coordinate or manage volunteers. Currently, the Institute for Human Services, Inc., is seeking presenters on a broad range of topics related to nonprofit issues and trends that will benefit all levels of professionals in the nonprofit work place. Participants will be interested in workshops that offer concrete ideas, methods, and resources that they can incorporate into their own programs and services. This year, the conference will be held on November 13, 2013, at the Radisson Hotel Corning.
