2012 IHS Volunteer Conference

Join IHS and the Regional Volunteer Center of the Southern Tier for our first Annual Volunteer Conference. The Conference is an opportunity for organizations to share their experiences working with volunteers, build skills to better manage them, and learn about new trends and issues.

  • 8:30 – 9:15 Breakfast & Opening Session
  • 9:30 – 11:00 Session 1 
  • 11:15 – 12:45 Session 2

  • Risk Management, Volunteer Policies, & Procedures – Andrew Marietta, NYCON
  • Managing Volunteers in Disasters: Lessons Learned from 2011 & Looking Forward – Panel moderated by Carol Wood, 2-1-1 HELPLINE at the Institute for Human Services
  • Special Events Volunteers: Keeping them Engaged all Year – Panel moderated by Kristin Butler, United Way of the Southern Tier
  • My Volunteers Are Driving Me Crazy! The Secret To Understanding & Motivating Your Volunteers – Andy Taylor
  • Recruiting an Effective Volunteer Board – Andrew Marietta, NYCON
  • Volunteers Managing Volunteers, designing and running a volunteer program which fosters leadership and accountability – Shirley Brown, Training and Development
